Although I’m older and married now, at heart I’m still just a kid who loves marketing — I don’t even skip YouTube ads.

Strange to most, but for me it’s like a writer who never reads.

Over the last decade I’ve built a rare combination of technical and commercial skills in GA4, GTM and ecommerce analytics.

My passion lies in solving complex tracking problems and reducing customer drop-off — because I’ve learned that you can’t scale advertising without first fixing the customer journey.

That means protecting sales whilst recovering revenue lost from cart abandonments.

What sets me apart is going beyond traditional analytics tools.

I set performance benchmarks from the outset, forecast revenue, and scale advertising to achieve higher returns — from operational to strategic and predictive levels.

Summary: 

Responsible for improving GA4 data accuracy and collecting more enhanced insights to identify customer drop-off points across key user journeys, including registration, login, and account recovery.

These new insights and recommendations are used to inform strategies to improve the customer browsing experience and personalisation from promotions, content and game recommendations.

 

Career highlights:

 

  • Discovered and flagged previously undetected GDPR violations exposing PII data across both server-side and client-side tracking — escalated to P1 and resolved, protecting the business from significant legal and financial risk, including potential fines of up to €20M.

 

  • Identified and raised several inconsistencies within technical specifications across both App (Flutter) and Web (dataLayer) environments, which were directly causing reporting discrepancies across multiple ad platforms (incl Google, Meta, Microsoft and NetRefer) for key acquisition and retention metrics, FTDs and registration success.

 

  • Post advanced Consent Mode implementation, reporting accuracy and PBI alignment reached 99%, significantly reducing discrepancies across key metrics including FTDs and new registrations.

 

  • Custom-built Looker Studio Funnel reports to map critical customer journeys — new member registration, login, and forgot password/username — isolating error-triggering steps contributing to high abandonment rates and quantifying revenue lost due to undiagnosed issues preventing customers from depositing.

 

  • Audited complex data integrations across sports, bingo and casino brands, and revamped Looker Studio dashboards to surface behavioural insights including forecasted deposit revenue losses from customer drop-offs.

 

  • Two major casino brands recorded a combined estimated revenue loss of £55.9M+, attributed to customer journey failures ranging from new registrations to login issues and successful account recoveries for forgotten password/username.

 

  • Recommended customer experience improvements to recover lost revenue, scale advertising and drive higher returns on marketing investment without increasing ad spend.

CRO Consultant

Oct 2021 – May 2024

Summary:

Initially joined as a CRO Executive managing a portfolio of CRO clients, driving optimisation strategies to improve revenue, transaction volume, and Average Order Value (AOV).

The role involved leveraging data tools — including Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar, and Google Surveys — alongside user research to analyse conversion funnels and recommend website improvements across mobile and desktop.

Responsibilities were later expanded beyond CRO clients, tasking me with implementing GA4 and checkout improvement recommendations across the entire platform, where combined client transactions exceeded £1 billion.

 

Career highlights:

 

GA3 to GA4 Migration

 

  • Led the successful migration of all platform clients from GA3 to GA4, completing a full year ahead of Google’s global rollout deadline — ahead of competitor platforms including Shopify.

 

  • This involved leading Phase 1, 2, and 3 migration efforts and developing custom technical JavaScript specifications for both GTM (dataLayer) and gtag.js integrations.

 

  • The migration delivered enhanced tracking capabilities as built-in features at no additional development cost, including purchase, begin checkout, payment method, shipping tier, login, sign up, website errors, and more.

 

Website Error Tracking

 

  • Implemented website error tracking across the platform, producing reports that pinpointed user-triggered errors across checkout and input fields — including email, password, telephone, and delivery information.

 

  • This provided immediate visibility into customer drop-off causes, enabling retailers to run A/B tests and improve checkout completion rates and revenue.

 

  • Nominated for and won the Innovation Award 2024.

Summary:

As a Senior Technical Google Analytics Specialist, I was responsible for implementing enhanced eCommerce tracking to monitor customer online deposits and accurately attribute registrations and FTDs to the correct marketing channels.

 

Career highlights:

 

  • Implemented enhanced e-Commerce analytics for a leading South African sportsbook company.

 

  • Successfully tracked customers’ online deposits across multiple sub-domains, including casino, sports, and lottery betting websites.

 

  • This enabled the company to gain valuable insights into their online operations and customer behaviour.

Wow — what a memorable experience during one of the weirdest times in history.

At CBR, in the midst of a pandemic with AdWords budgets slashed, we somehow delivered returns that exceeded what anyone thought possible. The real ingredient? Strong leadership and a bunch of passionate misfits with a unique blend of strengths who made it all ‘click’ (pun intended).

Summary: 

At heart — and by trade — I’m a marketer, not a developer. But the most valuable advice I ever received came from a developer:

“You’ll never be good at front-end marketing if you don’t understand the backend of a website.”

Harsh, yet true. So I listened and took a different path to most. Web development often had me pulling my hair out, but the experience — and the time it saved me later — was worth every minute.

Learning how websites actually work gave me a technical foundation that most marketers simply don’t have.

The best part? The ability to independently troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and communicate clearly with both techies and non-techies alike.
